Gien Provence dessert plates (x4)

  • Gien is a luxury French Maison
  • Handmade in a workshop existing since 1821
  • 4 gorgeous and unique designs by artist Isabelle Barthel

Gien takes me back to my childhood. On Sundays, my grandmother would set the table with her favorite plates and say proudly, It's from Gien”. I didn’t know then that these beautiful pieces came from a French factory that’s been making earthenware since 1821. That's how I fell in love with this luxury Maison.

This set of 4 Gien dessert plates is inspired by the colors and charm of Provence. Each one tells a story: lavender fields in bloom, a lively food market, fishing boats by the sea, flower picking. It’s like a postcard from Provence, right on your table.

The colors are vibrant, the lines soft and elegant. Each piece is handmade in Gien, in the Loire Valley, where artisans have been shaping earthenware since 1821. Durable, delicate, and full of charm. Serve a fruit tart, a slice of cheese, or simply a moment to remember.

The Provence edition also includes the platter, the pitcher and the bakeware.

Brand story

Faïencerie de Gien celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2021. Created in 1821, the manufacture settled on the banks of the river Loire, in the monastery Couvent des Minimes.
During the 19th century, Gien made famous for personalized collections for the European aristocratic families. In the early 1900s, Gien produced part of Paris metro tiles. And recently, Gien designed and produced exclusive collections for Versailles and Chambord castles. The crafting techniques remain today the same as 200 years ago, and each product requires the know how of at least 30 different earthenware masters.
French people are proud to have Gien dinnerware. Collectors even display them on the wall! More commonly, Gien dinnerware is used for special events and fancy dinners. They are emblematic of the art of the French table.
