Vintage French soup bowl with lion head in porcelain 20 oz

  • Limoges porcelain
  • For soups, soufflés, stews...
  • Vintage bowl in excellent condition

This vintage French soup bowl adorned with a lion's head on each side is an icon of French kitchens. So stylish, right?

You may have seen it in French restaurants, where it is used to serve the French onion soup. At home, you can use it for any type of soup, soufflés, seafood chowder and stews (capacity 20 oz). For a daily use or dinner parties, the French soup bowl will add an elegant touch to your table. Your guests will be impressed!

The vintage bowl is made with Limoges porcelain by Pillivuyt, French porcelain brand for 200 years. It is sturdy and has a bright milky white finish. Its cleanup is easy: it's dishwasher safe. For French onion soup or soufflés, the bowl goes in the oven (until +2500°F / +300 °C). The lion's head handles make it very functional to serve your guests at table.

Its timeless design will blend with all your dinnerware. And if you enjoy the traditional style of French kitchens, also known as the French country style, this bowl is definitely a must-have.

Note that our vintage products are in good conditions and were all clean. They may have some minor signs of age, including tiny chips.

    Brand story

Pillivuyt is a French porcelain brand for more than 200 years. At the heart of the porcelain region, Pillivuyt was created in 1818 by Louis Charles Pillivuyt.
Today, they are renowned worldwide. Two pieces made them famous and are sought after: the bistro coffee cup and the soup bowl with lion head. The common trait of all their collections is a timeless design, from different styles: French chateau, French country home and French bistro.
Each piece in their collection is expertly crafted, featuring a bright milky white finish. The finish is embedded through the piece rather than being applied to the surface, to create exceptionally strong porcelain. You will notice that Pillivuyt porcelain is particularly heavy: this is why it is durable.
