Gien Provence platter

  • Gien is a luxury French Maison
  • Handmade in a workshop existing since 1821
  • A gorgeous design by artist Isabelle Barthel

A summer in Provence, served at your table! This Gien platter captures everything we love about Provence, sun-drenched landscapes, blooming lavender fields, a charming southern village, baskets of ripe fruit, and armfuls of wildflowers.

The design is delicate, joyful, and full of color. A celebration of the South of France, where life moves slowly and beauty is everywhere. Generously sized, it’s perfect for serving fresh fruit, a summer tart, cheese, or even a simple salad ... And just as lovely displayed on a shelf.

Handmade from durable earthenware in Gien’s historic workshop, active since 1821, this platter brings together everyday elegance and true French craftsmanship. A piece to cherish, use, and pass on.

The Provence edition also includes the dessert plates, the pitcher and the bakeware

Brand story

Faïencerie de Gien celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2021. Created in 1821, the manufacture settled on the banks of the river Loire, in the monastery Couvent des Minimes.
During the 19th century, Gien made famous for personalized collections for the European aristocratic families. In the early 1900s, Gien produced part of Paris metro tiles. And recently, Gien designed and produced exclusive collections for Versailles and Chambord castles. The crafting techniques remain today the same as 200 years ago, and each product requires the know how of at least 30 different earthenware masters.
French people are proud to have Gien dinnerware. Collectors even display them on the wall! More commonly, Gien dinnerware is used for special events and fancy dinners. They are emblematic of the art of the French table.
